How do we heal systems of oppression when those same systems have shaped our professional identity?
Join Dr. Victoria Doobay for a transformative two-part exploration that challenges mental health professionals to examine the colonial foundations embedded within our practice—and discover pathways toward more authentic, client-centered healing.
Through guided reflection, experiential practices, and honest dialogue, we'll unpack the ways colonial thinking may be unconsciously influencing our work, our clients, and ourselves.
Part 1 fosters a deeper examination of colonization in our systems. We'll explore our internalization of colonization practices and begin to examine our relationship to colonization both personally and professionally.
Part 2 continues this exploration, focusing on the impact on healing and connection to ourselves and others. You'll examine your own place in the colonialist mentality through exploration of thoughts, values, and biases using reflective exercises and small group discussion. You'll also explore connection to self—or coming back home to self—through a series of experiential practices.
Part 2 invites you deeper, into the personal territory where true decolonization begins. Through reflective exercises and small group exploration, you'll uproot processes that do not feel aligned with client-centered work and block authentic connection to self and others so you can reconnect with your authentic self.
